The controlled fermentation of turnip slices using Lactobacillus plantarum or Leuconostoc mesenteroides as starter cultures led to earlier acid production and earlier and more pronounced inhibition of Enterobacteriaceae than with uninoculated (natural) fermentation. Unlike the natural fermentation, the controlled fermentations did not show a yeast secondary fermentation and also had a better colour. Due to its ability to produce higher amounts of acid, the use of Lact. plantarum is more desirable than of Leuc. mesenteroides.  相似文献

A new hydrolysis product derived from 3-butenylglucosinolate in seeds of certain strains of Brassica campestris Yellow Sarson is described. The structure, 1-cyano-3,4-epithiobutane is proposed. If the seeds are heated at 115° for 30 min before hydrolysis, 3-butenyl isothiocyanate is the main product.  相似文献

Induction of plant allelochemicals is of particular ecological importance for interactions with herbivores that can make use of induced metabolites by incorporating them for their own defence. Induction patterns in white mustard, Sinapis alba, were investigated following herbivory of the turnip sawfly, Athalia rosae, which sequesters plant glucosinolates. Larvae of different age were allowed to feed for 24 h on young leaves of premature, non-flowering plants. Changes in primary and secondary metabolites were recorded in the damaged leaves (local) and in the adjacent leaves and stems (systemic) for several days. Organ- and time-specific patterns were evident. Local responses included increases in glucosinolate concentrations, soluble and insoluble myrosinase activity and glucose levels, while systemic responses in leaves were restricted to increases in myrosinase activities and glucose. All effects were strongest immediately after feeding and declined mostly within a day. Stems had overall lower constitutive levels of glucosinolates and myrosinase activities than leaves. Feeding by one large larva had a greater impact on the plant's physiology than feeding by three small ones, even though both treatments resulted in quantitatively similar leaf destruction. Local increase in glucosinolate concentration could be beneficial for larvae, while conspecifics feeding on induced adjacent leaves might be negatively affected due to higher myrosinase activity levels. The results are discussed in the context of the ‘optimal defence theory’ and the ‘lethal plant defence paradox’.  相似文献

A disease survey in Finnish oilseed Brassica (OSR) fields in 2007–09 revealed the widespread occurrence and several fold increase of necrotic stem base lesions and severely injured blackened roots in comparison to a corresponding survey carried out in 1984–89. Rhizoctonia solani was the predominant fungi detected in the isolations and was followed by several species of Fusarium and Thielaviopsis basicola. In 60% of the samples all three species were detected together. Only the R. solani AG 2–1 strains isolated from OSR and other cruciferous hosts caused damping off or stem base symptoms on turnip rape in a greenhouse experiment. Therefore R. solani AG 2–1 was considered the main pathogen associated with the observed symptoms in OSR crops. Cultural practices changed significantly between the 1980s and 2000s. In the 2007–09 survey there was an increase in the cultivation of oilseed rape instead of turnip rape, increase in the use of no soil or reduced soil tillage and of chemical control of weeds, but a reduction in macronutrient fertilization, especially P and K, when compared to the 1980s survey. The risk for high incidence of stem base lesions and blackened roots was affected by different cultural practices. No tillage and maintaining sufficient soil pH and NPK fertilisation decreased the risk for both types of R. solani induced symptoms. Late sowing date increased the risk for high incidence of stem base lesions, while application of fungicides against Sclerotinia reduced it. The incidence of R. solani damages in many fields was very high in spite of relatively long crop rotations and therefore the average effect of crop rotation in the disease was insignificant. Current turnip rape cultivars are vulnerable to root rot while oilseed rape is vulnerable to stem base symptoms. The higher incidence of R. solani induced diseases could be associated with the decline in productivity of OSR crops in Finland. This study showed that cultural practices such as reduced or no soil tillage, adequate levels of pH and of NPK fertilization could reduce the severity of the symptoms in OSR fields.  相似文献

2003年11月至2004年8月,在温州湾天河潮间带按季节取样对大型底栖动物群落进行了研究.共发现大型底栖动物38种,隶属7门8纲23科,主要为软体动物、节肢动物和环节动物多毛类.物种获得数季节间差异不显著(F3,9=1.76,P>0.05),但潮位间种类获得数差异极显著(F3,9=9.56,P<0.01).潮上带、高潮带、中潮带和低潮带的密度、生物量分别为:144.50±14.24 ind./m2,58.56±13.23 g/m2;171.00±16.52ind./m2,40.57±12.60 g/m2;182.50±39.38 ind./m2,50.26±10.57 g/m2和94.00±28.88 ind./m2,16.55±7.27 g/m2.密度的季节间差异和潮位差异均不显著(F3,9=2.78和F3,9=2.14,P>0.05),而生物量在季节和潮位间差异极显著(F3,9=16.72和F3,9=22.24,P<0.01).Margalef物种丰富度指数和Shannon-Weiner多样性指数4季平均数表现为:中潮带>高潮带>低潮带>潮上带;Pielou均匀度指数平均数表现为:低潮带>中潮带>高潮带>潮上带;Simpson优势度指数平均数表现为:中潮带<高潮带<低潮带<潮上带.对4季4潮带16个群落进行聚类和排序分析可以看出,中高潮带界限不明显,低潮带和潮上带的界限明显.分析表明:生境条件的不同是大型底栖动物群落组成差异的主要原因,同一站位大型底栖动物群落物种构成数各季节之间差异不显著[动物学报52(1):45-52,2006].  相似文献

The effect of treated municipal wastewater on the roots and the leaves of turnip was studied to compare the 50% and 100% wastewater of 34 ml/d Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) with different doses of potassic fertilizers. Turnip (Brassica rapa) was used as a test plant. A pot experiment was conducted, using a factorial randomized block design to investigate the growth and translocation of heavy metals to the leaves and the roots of turnip. The concentration of heavy metal in wastewater used for irrigation was within the limits. However, the concentration in the plant parts showed a significant rise due to continuous use of wastewater. The concentration of heavy metals in leaves and roots was at excessive levels at 40 and 55 days after sowing (DAS), while at 70 DAS, metal concentration was comparatively low. The range of heavy metals in wastewater irrigated plants was Cd = 1–16.3, Ni = 0–136, Fe = 263–1197, Cu = 0–18, Mn = 37–125, and Zn = 42–141 mg/kg. Concentration of heavy metals in plants was found in the order of Fe>Zn>Ni>Mn>Cu>Cd.  相似文献

The multifunctional protein translationally controlled tumour protein (TCTP) was previously identified as necessary for infection by the potyvirus pepper yellow mosaic virus. Using turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) as a model to study potyvirus biology, we confirmed that TCTP has a positive effect on virus infection. Living cell confocal microscopy demonstrated that TCTP colocalises with 6K2-tagged replication vesicles and with a perinuclear globular structure typically observed during potyvirus infection. Also, TCTP silenced protoplasts showed reduced virus accumulation, quantified by qRT-PCR, which suggests an effect on virus replication, translation or other intracellular process. Finally, TCTP silencing in plants reduced the accumulation of two species belonging to Orthotospovirus and a Begomovirus genus, which are not closely related to potyviruses. The results suggest that TCTP is a general susceptibility factor to several unrelated viruses.  相似文献

Phenotypic plasticity, the ability of a genotype to express different phenotypes across environments, is an adaptive strategy expected to evolve in heterogeneous environments. One widely held hypothesis is that the evolutionary benefits of plasticity are reduced by its costs, but when compared with the number of traits tested, the evidence for costs is limited. Selection gradients were calculated for traits and trait plasticities to test for costs of plasticity to density in a field study using recombinant inbred lines (RILs) of Brassica rapa. Significant costs of putatively adaptive plasticity were found in three out of six measured traits. For one trait, petiole length, a cost of plasticity was detected in both environments tested; such global costs are expected to more strongly constrain the evolution of plasticity than local costs expressed in a single environment. These results, in combination with evidence from studies in segregating progenies of Arabidopsis thaliana, suggest that the potential for genetic costs of plasticity exists in natural populations. Detection of costs in previous studies may have been limited because historical selection has purged genotypes with costly plasticity, and experimental conditions often lack environmental stresses.  相似文献
